WHAT WE DO
WHAT IS SOLORETREAT.LIFE
The aim of soloretreats.life is to provide resources to people who want to have the most potent experience in Solo or Solitary Retreat.
The practice allows you the space to connect to yourself by detoxing from devices and other people for a set period of time. We recommend a minimum of 3 nights and 4 days. The ideal time frame for a retreat would be 10 days.
By being with ourselves in this way we repeatedly see the delusions of past and future fixations and repeatedly come back to clarity. If we don't see and accept reality as it is, how can we expect to know how to respond in a way that benefits us and our environment?
What is a Solo Retreat?
A Solo retreat is a time spent away from you daily life in a dedicated (usually in nature). Where you are spending quiet, restful time alone.
Why should I do this?
Perhaps you are seeking or even already experiencing a profound change in your life. You feel called to learn new ways of being and of relating to reality. You have a sense that you are much more than your thoughts and want to explore this realisation. You sense that your current way of being in the world is unfulfilling. You sense that there is 'more to life' than this. You feel called to see yourself and life more clearly, without all the filters and conditioning you've accumulated over the years. You've had a realisation that your habitual reactions and patterns are not serving your evolution or well-being. You feel restricted by your self-created identity and sense there is something far greater to discover. You are in a state of burn out, anxiety or high stress.
What is the difference between doing a Solo Retreat and other meditative or contemplative practices?
Most meditation practices teach us how to focus and calm the mind through techniques. When you are alone in nature - you naturally get quiet and maintain silence... even if it takes a few days the mind will eventually get quiet.
What is the schedule?
You set your own schedule for your retreat and it can be as vigorous or as easy going as you like. Go to our setting up your retreat page for some guidance on this.
Who is this practice for?
This practice is for anyone who wishes to go deeper into the experience of being human, with the exception of certain limiting physical disabilities, or diagnosed psychiatric conditions. It's suitable for total beginners, those who find meditation practice hard, or those who feel they need a 'fast track' to clarity.
Do I need any kind of prior experience?
No.
What do I need to know before signing up?
This is not a typical rest and relaxation retreat. This program teaches you tools to improve your quality of life. The lessons, realisations and knowledge of inner self that you will discover, along with the long-term support and guidance from the Inner Walk community and your fellow walkers, will help you to live the more expansive, liberated life you sense is possible.
Where does it take place?
It was be done in any conduce isolated environment. One such place is on our 9 acre property approx. 70 kms north west of Sydney CBD in the beautiful blue mountains suburb of Kurrajong. We have turned an old horse arena on this quiet property into an intentional walking space specially designed for this practice.
What challenges can I expect from the experience?
While everyone's experience is different and unique, we would like to share some of the more common experiences that may arise during the program;
Physical: You will find that if you are sitting all day you will get a sore neck and back after a day or two. Having a good posture, and a good meditation and stool set up can really help. Also titrating between walking and sitting meditation can be very helpful in this regard.
Emotional/psychological: Everything ranging from boredom, frustration, tears, to deep insight, clarity of purpose, forgiveness of self and others, increased humour, renewed love of life.
What can I expect in the days/weeks after the program?
Many report mental calmness and equanimity, a renewed appreciation of life, and a felt sense of their internal resilience.
Is accommodation included?
At present, if you require accommodation you can search air b'n'b or other such sites for local family operated accomodation in Kurrajong / East Kurrajong Area.
What do I need to know before arriving?
It is good to be intentional about your meals, clothing, created a sacred space and setting up your retreat in the most conducive way. Our Create Retreat page can help you with all of this.
